Native bush, sheer granite bluffs, a waterfall and historic mining relics. Charming Creek Walkway combines the best of the West Coast and a step back into a time that once was.
Stunning scenery and direct traces of the mining history in the area, this walk is a gentle one suitable for all ages. Follow the abandoned Charming Creek railway through native forest and hand-cut tunnels, with views of the Ngakawau River and Gorge and the Mangatini Falls along the way.
You will be able to admire old coal mines, miner’s huts and abandoned equipment left on the trail while hiking along the old tramway, last used in the early 1900s.
