Bayview Scenic Ride
There is no better way to soak up the amazing scenery of the Bay of Islands than on horseback. This trek is great for beginners, nervous riders or families with younger children - we’ll embark on a nice and easy ride at a steady pace - providing plenty of opportunities for photos.
We’ll ride up to a panoramic viewpoint over the Bay, where our guides will be happy to assist you in getting the perfect photo, before looping back to our base. Departures at 12:30pm daily; if you want to book for another hour, please check availability on or email us at ride@horsetrekn.co.nz

Forest & Hillside Trek
Hop on the saddle and ride along forestry roads, look over beautiful farmland and pine forest,and ride up to a gorgeous view point over the Bay of Islands before coming back to the base.
This ride is suitable for all levels; the guide will simply choose the pace and terrain according to your level of experience.

Ride the Waves
Our most popular and a unique experience - join us for a scenic ride around Waitangi followed by a relaxed swim with our horses in our nearby secret bay. We’ll mount up and ride to a panoramic viewpoint before looping back around and down into the bay. Our guides will then remove the horses saddles and help you mount bareback to take the horses for a swim in the pristine clear and warm waters.
A once in a lifetime experience that is not to be missed - available only in summer months and subject to weather and sea conditions. Book early to avoid missing out.

You will also be supplied with protective overalls and a battle pack incorporating valuables pouch and capacity for a further 300 rounds of ammunition.

High pressure CO2 cylinder 20oz of pressurised liquid propellant.
Paint Grenade*
High explosive paint filled device. Do not store in pocket**
Smoke Bomb*
Produces thick white or coloured smoke screen. Burns for approx.1 minute.**
