Hawea to Wanaka Ebike Hire and Shuttle

The only self-guided bike tour in Wanaka using super comfortable, full suspension Electric Mountain Bikes.
You'll be amazed at how easy biking is on one of these. It's easily the best way to take in the scenery, while not needing to be an athlete!

Ebike next to two of NZ"s most beautiful lakes, while also admiring the rugged surrounding mountains.
This self guided tour starts in Wanaka with us picking you up and transferring you to the start of the track, next to Lake Hawea.
After a bike fitting, instruction on how to operate your ebike, and a safety briefing, you're off on a beautiful, fun ride back to Wanaka.
Not only will you ride next to two stunning alpine lakes, but you'll also cruise along next to two amazing crystal clear NZ rivers.
Make sure to stop and take it all in, look for some trout, and generally chill out.
After all, you have all day.

  • Hawea township
  • Hawea Dam
  • Hawea Wave - You may see people surfing this wave!
  • Swing bridge over the Hawea River, which you can ride over
  • Butterfields Wetlands - Look out for native birdlife and eels

    track which takes you along the upper stretches of the mighty Clutha River (Mata au)

Difficulty Level: Easy (grade1-2). Grades go up to 6 (being the most technical/difficult)

Easy Electric Bike Tour

This is a fully guided experience, using Discover Wanaka's highly trained, friendly, mountain bike guides.
We supply all the equipment and have electric bikes &
helmets to fit all. Meandering alongside one of
Wanaka’s well known rivers, there’s plenty to see and do. This tour
passes by a standing wave where we often see people kayaking or river
surfing. The crystal clear water showcases our local trout population
and at the end we cross a spectacular swing bridge that spans the river.


CHALLENGE LEVEL: Suitable for beginner and intermediate riders (grade 3-4: see our FAQs for an explanation of our grades.)

DURATION: 2.5 hours – plenty of time to enjoy the trail and take breaks to take in the scenery.

TOUR TIMES: Departs 9.30am, 1:00pm


BRING: Sturdy footwear and activewear (e.g. shorts
and t-shirt). Please ensure you bring a warm top or jacket and
sunglasses too. A day bag, camera and own water are recommended.

Riverside Electric Bike Tour

This great bike tour winds along the banks of New Zealand’s largest
and most powerful river, getting your heart rate up without the trail
being too technical. You’ll learn about the power, history and
importance of the river to Wanaka and to New Zealand – all while taking
in the dramatic scenery.

A great way for a couple, family or small group to fill a morning or afternoon.
CHALLENGE LEVEL: Suitable for intermediate riders. Varied terrain with some ups and down.

DURATION: 3.0 hours – plenty of time to enjoy the trail and to take breaks to take in the scenery.
