Stroll along the stunning waterfront and check out some gorgeous heritage buildings, and with the abundance of marine wildlife, you will be sure to find something to enjoy! Our day tour to Akaroa will be led by one of our friendly and knowledgeable guides, as you discover and rediscover this picturesque small town. The Giant’s house is a one-of-a-kind unique garden filled with Mosaics, sculptures, interactive fun and so much more. It’s a must-see local icon and recognized as a “Garden of International Significance”.

Itinerary:
Christchurch – We start by leaving the Garden City/Christchurch and heading over the hills towards our destination, while our knowledgeable driver points out some of the Garden City’s highlights.
Little River – As we continue you will be greeted by the hidden gem that is Little River. Here we give you the opportunity to stretch your legs and grab a coffee. This small, delightful town is nestled deep amongst streams and springs. This is only unfortunately a brief stop but one that you want to come across again with their great mix of craft shops, a funky art gallery and accommodation in a silo! this is a great little find.
Akaroa –There are multiple look out points throughout this drive as we reach the summit before heading down into Akaroa. Once in the village you will have opportunity to grab lunch before visiting the Giants house. Our driver will leave you to explore this iconic art filled brilliance before returning to head back to the city.
Christchurch – After a wonderful day we then make our way to the Garden city so you can sit back and relax after a stunning day. With your camera roll full! This day will definitely be one to remember.


Please note additional stops are taken into consideration for toilet breaks. This tour is purely for those interested in the Giants house and there will be no opportunity for local walks or shopping unfortunately.

Akaroa is nestled
in the sheltered side of Akaroa Harbour, Banks Peninsula, and is the only
French settlement in New Zealand. Discovered by French whaler Captain Langlois,
he decided that it would be a perfect location for a town to service the
whaling ships. After acquiring the land, he returned to France to gather German
and French families to form a colony. After returning and seeing that the
Treaty of Waitangi had been signed, and the country now a sovereign country,
the French settlers decided to stay, and Akaroa’s French Street names and
colonial houses are continuing the legacy of how Akaroa came to be.





In the
afternoon we head out with Black Cat Cruises on a nature cruise around Akaroa
Habour. You will experience cruising through an extinct volcano crater, seeing
New Zealand fur seals costal birds, and the smallest and rarest dolphin – the
Hector’s Dolphin.





You will be driven in comfort in our modern, comfortable minibuses

River – We stop to have morning tea in this beautiful tree filled township.
Make sure you check out the local gift shop, you can find some beautiful
treasures in there!

Akaroa
– We depart Little River and head towards Akaroa. As we travel through the
peninsula the scenery is captivating and there are multiple lookout points as
we reach the summit and make our way down to Akaroa. Once there, we spend the
morning exploring the township, visiting some of the local stores and taking in
the stunning view. After lunch, we head out on the beautiful Akaroa Nature
Cruise where you will see Hector’s Dolphins, coastal birds and more!

– After a day you won’t forget, we head back to Christchurch with hearts full
from a fun day out!
