Hamner Springs is most famous for their, mineral-rich Thermal Hot pools! Surrounded by magnificent mountains and forests, you will find tranquillity and peace in as you unwind in New Zealand’s prime location.  Depending what season, you decide to visit, you will either be greeted with a wonderland of snow-covered Alpine Lodges or trees bursting with cooper colouring in Autumn.  Pack a towel and soak in the Natural Thermal pools or have a go on their epic waterslides, this is one hidden sanctuary in Canterbury you cannot miss out on.

Itinerary:

Christchurch – We start by leaving the Garden City/Christchurch and heading towards our destination, while our knowledgeable driver points out some of the Garden City’s highlights.

Hanmer Springs – As we continue, we make our way to Hanmer Spring, you will be welcomed by a little resort town which has been compared to the Canadian Rockies, with its surrounding pine trees and mountain peaks. You will have the opportunity for lunch before heading to Hammers famous hot pools. You will be left to soak and relax before collection towards Christchurch.

Waipara (45min) – This journey can’t end without a little bit of… WINE.  While passing through beautiful, lush green countryside, vineyards, and farms! The Waipara region is one of New Zealand’s premier wine regions and one of our stops – Here you will have the opportunity to taste a selection of wine from a locally owned and operated vineyard before we head towards Christchurch. Don’t worry if wine isn’t your thing, you can substitute wine for beer!

Christchurch –You will head back with a new found love! We then make our way to the Garden city so you can sit back and relax after a wonderful day. With your camera roll full! This day will definitely be something to brag about.

Please note additional stops are taken into consideration for toilet breaks. This tour is purely for those interested in Hot Springs, there will be no opportunity for local walks.

you from the port, and take you to this picturesque valley and township, only
55mins away from Christchurch, driving through beautiful countryside.

Christchurch/Lyttleton – We will collect you from the port
at Lyttleton and head north towards our destination, along the way our
knowledgeable and friendly tour guide will point out Christchurch’s top
highlights, and the city will make way for country. Make sure you have your
camera ready, as the countryside is beautiful.

Waipara – We arrive in this picturesque location,
ready to visit a few of the local vineyards, and sample some of their best red
and white wines. Lunch is included.

Christchurch/Lyttelton – Sadly our time in wine region has
come to close for the day, and we make our way back to port, with fantastic
memories of a wonderful day out.

Itinerary: 

Christchurch – We start by leaving Ōtautahi Christchurch, also known as New Zealand's Garden City. As we head north towards Waipara, our knowledgeable guide will point out some of the central city highlights.

Torlesse Wines (1 hour) - Torlesse, a long-established favourite in the Valley; blending tradition with a relaxed, approachable atmosphere right in the heart of North Canterbury wine country. Proudly family-run and named after surveyor Charles Torlesse, this winery has been a key player in the region for decades. With deep roots in the valley and a focus on small-batch production, Torlesse offers a cellar door experience that's both welcoming and informative - ideal for those who appreciate heritage, hands-on winemaking, and a down-to-earth vibe. The tasting room is casual and inviting, often hosted by passionate staff who are more than happy to guide you through a wide-ranging portfolio. Expect to sample aromatic whites like Gewürztraminer and Riesling, as well as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and the lesser-seen Verdehlo and Port-style wines - a unique touch that sets Torlesse apart.

Waipara Springs (1.5 hours) - Waipara Springs; a welcoming, family-owned gem nestled in the heart of the picturesque Waipara Valley, North Canterbury. Established in 1989, Waipara Springs is one of the oldest wineries in the region, proudly run by second and third-generation family members. Surrounded by mature vines and rich limestone soils, the winery is celebrated for its vibrant, fruit-forward wines that reflect the unique character of the valley. The relaxed cellar door experience offers a chance to taste their beautifully crafted range - think Dry Riesling, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir - all grown and bottled on site. The on-site restaurant is set amongst the vines and offers a tranquil and informal dining experience. Instead of a traditional menu, guests are served individual winery-style platters, thoughtfully curated with seasonal ingredients. Each platter features a delicious spread of fresh salads, cold meats, cheeses, breads, and more - all designed to complement the wines and the relaxed pace of a vineyard lunch. Georges Road Wines (1 hour) - Georges Road; a boutique, family-owned vineyard nestled on the sun-soaked western slopes of the Waipara Valley, North Canterbury. This hidden gem is known for its handcrafted, small-batch wines and relaxed, intimate atmosphere. With sweeping views of the hills and a genuine passion for winemaking, Georges Road offers a cellar door experience that’s as personal as it is memorable. Specialising in elegant, aromatic varietals, the winery showcases outstanding examples of Syrah, Pinot Noir, Riesling, and Pinot Gris, all grown on site. Tastings are often hosted by owner and winemaker Kirk Bray, giving visitors a rare opportunity to hear the stories behind the wines directly from the person who crafted them. Adding to the charm of the experience is Pepper, the friendly resident winery dog, who’s always happy to greet guests with a wagging tail. Whether lounging in the sun or popping over for a pat between pours, Pepper adds an extra touch of warmth to an already welcoming environment.

Hamner Springs is more than a Thermal Pool and spa destination, surrounded by magnificent mountains and forests, you will find that Hanmer Spring’s main street is filled with boutique shops, local cafes and eateries. Depending what season, you decide to visit, you will either be greeted with a wonderland of snow-covered Alpine Lodges or trees bursting with cooper colouring in Autumn.  Why not take the thrill of a lifetime and plummet towards water at a height of 35 meters via bungy! This activity promises an adrenaline fuelled experience that you can bask in for the whole day!
