Itinerary
Christchurch - We start by leaving Garden City/Christchurch and heading south towards our destination, while our knowledgeable driver points out some of the Garden City’s highlights.
Canterbury Plains - Wrapped around Christchurch are the Canterbury Plains filled with farmland as far as the eye can see. Most types of farming you can think of will be found on the plains such as crops, vineyards, dairy and livestock production.
Fairlie Bakehouse (10mins) - A Classic New Zealand farming town hidden away in Mackenzie. Fairlie goes through some stunning colour changes especially come Autum, this is truly one of the best locations to sit and relax with one of their world-famous meat Pies from the Bakehouse. And this stop is also where we will pick up your lunch to keep you full of energy for the rest of the day.
Lake Tekapo/ Church of the Good Shepherd ( 15mins) – An alpine lake region like no other in the heart of Mackenzie. At the right time of year, you will find clusters of wild lupins along the lake edge. Once we arrive in Tekapo we head towards the most popular photo spots in the country The Church of The Good Shepard for those social media worthy pictures.
Lake Pukaki (10mins) - This glacier fed lake is unique compared to its alpine partners. The colours can change from ice blue to a dark deep blue depending on the weather conditions. On a clear day enjoy undisturbed views right up to Mt Cook which appears to extend out of the head of the lake.
Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park (2.5hrs) – AND HERE WE ARE! Named after the famous explorer James Cook, Aoraki/Mt Cook is New Zealand’s highest peak. Once here you will have the choice to embark on either The Hooker Valley or The Tasman Glacier walk. If a flight overlooking the mountains is more your thing, we are happy to arrange Helicopter rides for you and the family to enjoy. Hooker Valley - The Hooker valley track is one of the highest rated day walks in New Zealand. It’s not hard to see why as you walk alongside an ice-covered cliff face (Listen carefully you may hear it moving) all the way to an ice filled lake with Mt Cook at its end. This walk takes 2.5-3 hours to complete. We cannot guarantee you will have enough time to complete this walk. Tasman Glacier - This track leads through the glacier’s old terminal moraines, and there you will find amazing views of the glacier, river, and lake. Mt Cook Information Centre (DOC) – You are more than welcome to take it all in by spending the day in the information centre with a coffee. Learn the history of the national park, ask questions and just be in moment.

Itinerary

Franz Josef – We leave the quiet town of Franz Josef, as we make our way towards the garden city of Christchurch.
Lake Ianthe (5 min) - Lake Ianthe is surrounded by hills and podocarp forests, with a large flax swamp at its southern end. The lake is home to a diverse array of wetland birds, including the endangered Great Crested Grebe, which has one of the largest populations in New Zealand. The lake is situated in a glacial trough, surrounded by a moraine and flows into Wanganui River through Ianthe Creek. A little stop here for those “wows” and “oooohs”
Hokitika (1.5hrs) – Experience the laid-back atmosphere that's sure to evoke a sense of nostalgia once we arrive in Hokitika. Allowing time for a stroll down Hokitika's wild beach, where black sand meets the rugged coastline. Looking out towards the Tasman Sea you’ll be able to watch the rugged surf with views towards a shipwreck and perhaps you'll have a chance to stumble upon some greenstone. Our guides give you the time needed to enjoy this “cool town” and a little teaser of what it has to offer

Hokitika Gorge (1hr) – Why not join the group on an excursion towards a stop hidden away on the West Coast, Hokitika Gorge, a treasured gem that consistently inspires awe, with its striking turquoise waters radiating an otherworldly beauty. Nestled amidst a lush canopy of native bush, this enchanting gorge is a magnet for nature enthusiasts and photographers, who flock to capture its unique essence and unforgettable vistas. After getting those Instagram worthy shots our driver will collect you as we head towards Arthurs Pass.

Greymouth (5min) – A quick stop at the Information center. Greymouth is located in the heart of New Zealand's South Island, Greymouth is the largest town in the West
Coast region, with a population of around 14,000 people. Nestled amidst chiseled cliff tops, wild beaches, and the picturesque Grey Valley, this charming destination is not only a beautiful spot itself, but also a key hub for connecting via the renowned TranzAlpine train service .
Cobden Breakwater (5 min) - Cobden is a beach break with a rock breakwater at its southern end, producing standout waves that break right up against the structure. This picturesque spot is a photographer's paradise, with a stunning backdrop that's sure to capture breathtaking images.
Otira Gorge Lookout (10 min) – Also known as Deaths Corner! The Otira Viaduct Lookout is an amazing spot to see the national park in all its glory. This bridge is the only reason driving Arthurs Pass is possible! It’s huge at 440
Meters long and is a great spot for a photo of the bridge and the surrounding landscape. A little bonus too, you might see a wee Cheeky Kea! The sneaky Alpine Parrot of NZ. We then embark on the next adventure towards gorgeous Christchurch.
Arthurs Pass Village (1 hr.) – On the way through you will be able to see the beautiful backdrop of the majestic Southern Alps up close. Once we arrive you will have the opportunity to either walk the Devils Punch Bowl or spend this time walking around the local shop. Devils Punch Bowl – This walking track is approx. 1 hour with a gradual incline including steps towards a ferocious 131-meter-tall waterfall. Fitness is low to moderate as you walk through the bush and forest.
Arthurs pass village – Grab a bite to eat, a coffee and shop for local goodies! This village is a great way to really get to know the area.
Castle Hill (1hr) – Weathered limestone rocks sit proudly on the tussocky hills that were once in the ocean! Over time they eroded away and
started forming these amazing unique shapes you’ll see today. You might recognize this landscape from movies such as Lord of the Rings and Narnia! That’s right. Not only that, but while you walk amongst the rocks you will also see climbers and boulderers! This place is a magnet for thrill seekers. This is not a guided walk so you will be left to explore this piece of beauty on your own.
L ake Lyndon (5 min) - Lake Lyndon, located near Porters Pass, it is a popular spot for rainbow trout fishing due to its thriving population, the lake is nestled within the Korowai/Torlesse Tussocklands Park and is fed by the Acheron River, which flows into the Rakaia River.
Christchurch – The final stretch towards the vibrant city, offering a unique blend of history, culture and boasting architecture, ranging from ancient landmarks to modern marvels, while its thriving art scene provides endless opportunities for culture seekers. Meanwhile, the laidback lifestyle and stunning natural surroundings make it a paradise for nature lovers, offering a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of modern city life. Located on the spectacular Crown Range Road between Queenstown and Wānaka, the Cardrona Hotel is one of New Zealand's oldest and most iconic hotels. Its rustic charm, spectacular mountain setting and rich history make it a must-see in Central Otago. 3. Wānaka
We’ll stroll down to the lakeside for that iconic photo of the Wānaka Tree. Soak in the beauty of this expansive lake, backdropped by Mt Aspiring and the Southern Alps—a paradise for photographers. 4. Lake Hāwea
Crossing the mighty Clutha River, we'll head westward past the stunning Lake Hāwea. We'll stop for a quick photo at a lookout point between Lake Wānaka and Lake Hāwea. 5. Blue Pools (Temporarily Closed)

We'll pass many glacial rivers as we journey past Fox Glacier to our destination of Franz Josef. Our guide will drop you at any central accommodation in either Franz Josef or Fox Glacier. If you are continuing to Christchurch the next day, your guide will pick you up from your hotel to carry on the journey.

Lake Pukaki (10mins) - This glacier fed lake is unique compared to its alpine partners. The colours can change from ice blue to a dark deep blue depending on the weather conditions. On a clear day enjoy undisturbed views right up to Mt Cook which appears to extend out of the head of the lake.
Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park (2.5hrs) – AND HERE WE ARE! Named after the famous explorer James Cook, Aoraki/Mt Cook is New Zealand’s highest peak. Once here you will have the choice to embark on either The Hooker Valley or The Tasman Glacier walk. If a flight overlooking the mountains is more your thing, we are happy to arrange Helicopter rides for you and the family to enjoy. Hooker Valley The Hooker valley track is one of the highest rated day walks in New Zealand. It’s not hard to see why as you walk alongside an ice-covered cliff face (Listen carefully you may hear it moving) all the way to an ice filled lake with Mt Cook at its end. This walk takes 2.5-3 hours to complete. We cannot guarantee you will have enough time to complete this walk. Tasman Glacier This track leads through the glacier’s old terminal moraines, and there you will find amazing views of the glacier, river, and lake. Mt Cook Information Centre (DOC) – You are more than welcome to take it all in by spending the day in the information centre with a coffee. Learn the history of the national park, ask questions and just be in moment.
At 2:30 our driver will collect you from your chosen destinations for the day towards Queenstown
Lake Pukaki – You head back through the gorgeous Mt Cook highway
towards that everchanging glacier fed lake.
High Country Salmon – Stopping at the local salmon farm, you will have
the opportunity to feed and taste some of the freshest New Zealand salmon.
Lindis Pass – This amazing pass winds through the alpine road
covered by the southern Alps.
Mrs Jones Fruit Stall - This stop is dependable on daylight savings. We
hope to be able to go in for some local fruit and ice cream while the sun is
still up.
Kawarau Suspension Bridge – making our way through the Kawarau Gorge you will
be struck by some stunning viewpoint’s such as the suspension bridge and the
Roaring meg Lookout, as we near our destination.
Queenstown – AND HERE WE ARE! The all-famous adventure capital
of the world, Queenstown. We say our goodbyes here as we drop you at your
accommodation. We wish you all the best for your next venture and hope to see

Itinerary

Christchurch - We start by leaving Garden City/Christchurch and heading south towards our destination, while our knowledgeable driver points out some of the Garden City’s highlights.

Canterbury Plains - Wrapped around Christchurch are the Canterbury Plains filled with farmland as far as the eye can see. Most types of farming you can think of will be found on the plains such as crops, vineyards, dairy and livestock production.

Fairlie Bakehouse (10mins) - A Classic New Zealand farming town hidden away in Mackenzie. Fairlie goes through some stunning colour changes especially come Autum, this is truly one of the best locations to sit and relax with one of their world-famous meat Pies from the Bakehouse. And this stop is also where we will pick up your lunch to keep you full of energy for the rest of the day.

Lake Tekapo/ Church of the Good Shepherd ( 15mins) – An alpine lake region like no other in the heart of Mackenzie. At the right time of year, you will find clusters of wild lupins along the lake edge. Once we arrive in Tekapo we head towards the most popular photo spots in the country The Church of The Good Shepard for those social media worthy pictures.

Christchurch – After what has been a simply beautiful day, we will head back to the Garden City. Its bittersweet as you’ll be exhausted but
filled with new memories. Please note additional stops are taken into considerations for toilet breaks.
