** Christchurch* * – Our journey begins as we leave the Garden City (Christchurch) and head south toward our destination. Along the way, our knowledgeable driver will highlight some of the key landmarks and attractions of Christchurch.
** Canterbury Plains ** – Surrounding Christchurch, the Canterbury Plains stretch out, offering views of farmland as far as the eye can see. The plains are home to a variety of farming activities, including crop cultivation, vineyards, dairy farming, and livestock production.
* *Fairlie Bakehouse (10 mins)* * – Nestled in the charming farming town of Fairlie, located in Mackenzie, this stop is a true delight. The town is especially stunning in autumn, as the landscape transforms with vibrant colors. Here, you can enjoy one of the famous meat pies from the local bakehouse. This is also where we’ll grab your lunch, ensuring you’re fueled for the rest of the journey.
* *Lake Tekapo & The Church of the Good Shepherd (15 mins) ** – Located in the heart of the Mackenzie region, Lake Tekapo is a breathtaking alpine destination. At the right time of year, the lakeshore is adorned with clusters of wild lupins. We’ll head to the iconic Church of the Good Shepherd, one of New Zealand’s most photographed spots, perfect for those Instagram-worthy pictures.
** Lake Pukaki (10 mins)** – This glacier-fed lake stands out from other alpine lakes with its shifting colors, ranging from ice blue to deep blue, depending on the weather. On clear days, enjoy uninterrupted views of the majestic Mt Cook, rising from the lake’s edge.
** Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park (2.5 hrs )** – Welcome to the heart of our journey! Aoraki/Mt Cook, New Zealand's highest peak, is named after the famous explorer James Cook. Once you arrive, you'll have the option to embark on one of two spectacular walks: the **Hooker Valley** or the **Tasman Glacier** walk. Alternatively, if you’d prefer an aerial view of the mountains, we can arrange a scenic helicopter ride for you and your family.
- ** Hooker Valley Walk (2-2.5 hrs )** – One of New Zealand's most renowned day hikes, the Hooker Valley track takes you alongside ice-covered cliffs (you might even hear them creaking) to a glacial lake with stunning views of Mt Cook.
- ** Tasman Glacier Walk (2-2.5 hrs) ** – This track leads through the old terminal moraines of the Tasman Glacier, offering incredible views of the glacier, surrounding river, and lake.

Itinerary
Franz Josef – We leave the quiet town of Franz Josef, as we make our way towards the garden city of Christchurch.
Lake Ianthe (5 min) - Lake Ianthe is surrounded by hills and podocarp forests, with a large flax swamp at its southern end. The lake is home to a diverse array of wetland birds, including the endangered Great Crested Grebe, which has one of the largest populations in New Zealand. The lake is situated in a glacial trough, surrounded by a moraine and flows into Wanganui River through Ianthe Creek. A little stop here for those “wows” and “oooohs”
Hokitika (1.5hrs) – Experience the laid-back atmosphere that's sure to evoke a sense of nostalgia once we arrive in Hokitika. Allowing time for a stroll down Hokitika's wild beach, where black sand meets the rugged coastline. Looking out towards the Tasman Sea you’ll be able to watch the rugged surf with views towards a shipwreck and perhaps you'll have a chance to stumble upon some greenstone. Our guides give you the time needed to enjoy this “cool town” and a little teaser of what it has to offer

Hokitika Gorge (1hr) – Why not join the group on an excursion towards a stop hidden away on the West Coast, Hokitika Gorge, a treasured gem that consistently inspires awe, with its striking turquoise waters radiating an otherworldly beauty. Nestled amidst a lush canopy of native bush, this enchanting gorge is a magnet for nature enthusiasts and photographers, who flock to capture its unique essence and unforgettable vistas. After getting those Instagram worthy shots our driver will collect you as we head towards Arthurs Pass.

Greymouth (5min) – A quick stop at the Information center. Greymouth is located in the heart of New Zealand's South Island, Greymouth is the largest town in the West
Coast region, with a population of around 14,000 people. Nestled amidst chiseled cliff tops, wild beaches, and the picturesque Grey Valley, this charming destination is not only a beautiful spot itself, but also a key hub for connecting via the renowned TranzAlpine train service .
Cobden Breakwater (5 min) - Cobden is a beach break with a rock breakwater at its southern end, producing standout waves that break right up against the structure. This picturesque spot is a photographer's paradise, with a stunning backdrop that's sure to capture breathtaking images.
Otira Gorge Lookout (10 min) – Also known as Deaths Corner! The Otira Viaduct Lookout is an amazing spot to see the national park in all its glory. This bridge is the only reason driving Arthurs Pass is possible! It’s huge at 440
Meters long and is a great spot for a photo of the bridge and the surrounding landscape. A little bonus too, you might see a wee Cheeky Kea! The sneaky Alpine Parrot of NZ. We then embark on the next adventure towards gorgeous Christchurch.
Arthurs Pass Village (1 hr.) – On the way through you will be able to see the beautiful backdrop of the majestic Southern Alps up close. Once we arrive you will have the opportunity to either walk the Devils Punch Bowl or spend this time walking around the local shop. Devils Punch Bowl – This walking track is approx. 1 hour with a gradual incline including steps towards a ferocious 131-meter-tall waterfall. Fitness is low to moderate as you walk through the bush and forest.
Arthurs pass village – Grab a bite to eat, a coffee and shop for local goodies! This village is a great way to really get to know the area.

started forming these amazing unique shapes you’ll see today. You might recognize this landscape from movies such as Lord of the Rings and Narnia! That’s right. Not only that, but while you walk amongst the rocks you will also see climbers and boulderers! This place is a magnet for thrill seekers. This is not a guided walk so you will be left to explore this piece of beauty on your own.

Itinerary
Railway Station/ Christchurch - We start our journey towards the wild west coast by dropping you off at Tower Junction to catch your train towards Greymouth via the Tranzalpine. This journey offers open viewing carriages for you to enjoy the scenery through the panoramic windows.
Greymouth (5min) – Our guide will pick you up at the Information center. Greymouth is located in the heart of New Zealand's South Island, Greymouth is the largest town in the West Coast region, with a population of around 14,000 people. Nestled amidst chiseled cliff tops, wild beaches, and the picturesque Grey Valley, this charming destination is not only a beautiful spot itself, but also a key hub for connecting via the renowned TranzAlpine train service .
Please note the train is a third-party company in conjoined with our tour, there may be train delays of up to 30 minutes meaning you might not be able to have time for the views in Cobden. Please be aware of this and be patient if this occurs.
Cobden Breakwater (5min) - Cobden is a beach break with a rock breakwater at its southern end, producing standout waves that break right up against the structure. This picturesque spot is a photographer's paradise, with a stunning backdrop that's sure to capture breathtaking images.
Hokitika (1.5hr) Experience the laid-back atmosphere that's sure to evoke a sense of nostalgia once we arrive in Hokitika. Allowing time for a
stroll down Hokitika's wild beach, where black sand meets the rugged coastline. Looking out towards the Tasman Sea you’ll be able to watch the rugged surf with views towards a shipwreck and perhaps you'll have a chance to stumble upon some greenstone. Our guides give you the time needed to enjoy this “cool town” and a little teaser of what it has to offer

Hokitika Gorge (1hr) – Why not join the group on an excursion towards a stop hidden away on the West Coast, Hokitika Gorge, a treasured gem that consistently inspires awe, with its striking turquoise waters radiating an otherworldly beauty. Nestled amidst a lush canopy of native bush, this enchanting gorge is a magnet for nature enthusiasts and photographers, who flock to capture its unique essence and unforgettable vistas. After getting those Instagram worthy shots our driver will collect you as we head towards Franz Josef.

Lake Ianthe (5min) - Lake Ianthe is surrounded by hills and podocarp forests, with a large flax swamp at its southern end. The lake is home to a diverse array of wetland birds, including the endangered Great Crested Grebe, which has one of the largest populations in New Zealand. The lake is situated in a glacial trough, surrounded by a moraine and flows into Wanganui River through Ianthe Creek.
** There will be two options once you arrive in Franz Josef Village. Please let our driver know if you prefer to be dropped straight at your accommodation or if you want to do the walk towards the famous Franz Josef Glacier and be dropped off after. **
Franz Josef Glacier (30min) - New Zealand's West Coast Glacier Country is one of the only two locations in the world where you can view glaciers flowing into rainforests. Despite minimal snowfall in the towns of Franz Josef and Fox Glacier, the surrounding high mountains receive plenty of snow, ensuring the glaciers remain icy. While direct access to the glacier face is not possible, you are able to walk to the lookout and read up about the amazing history behind this scenic attraction.
Franz Josef – In the quiet town of Franz Josef, this treasured gem in New Zealand offers an array of thrilling hikes with awe-inspiring views and backdrops, as well as unique local experiences. But the real piece of history is the chance to marvel at the majestic glaciers up close, whether by exploring the icy terrain on foot or taking to the skies for a bird's-eye view.

**Christchurch** – Our journey begins as we leave the Garden City (Christchurch) and head south toward our destination. Along the way, our knowledgeable driver will highlight some of the key landmarks and attractions of Christchurch.
**Canterbury Plains** – Surrounding Christchurch, the Canterbury Plains stretch out, offering views of farmland as far as the eye can see. The plains are home to a variety of farming activities, including crop cultivation, vineyards, dairy farming, and livestock production.
**Fairlie Bakehouse (10 mins)** – Nestled in the charming farming town of Fairlie, located in Mackenzie, this stop is a true delight. The town is especially stunning in autumn, as the landscape transforms with vibrant colors. Here, you can enjoy one of the famous meat pies from the local bakehouse. Please let us know if you'd like to include lunch for an additional cost .
**Lake Tekapo & The Church of the Good Shepherd (15 mins)** – Located in the heart of the Mackenzie region, Lake Tekapo is a breathtaking alpine destination. At the right time of year, the lakeshore is adorned with clusters of wild lupins. We’ll head to the iconic Church of the Good Shepherd, one of New Zealand’s most photographed spots, perfect for those Instagram-worthy pictures.
**Lake Pukaki (10 mins)** – This glacier-fed lake stands out from other alpine lakes with its shifting colors, ranging from ice blue to deep blue, depending on the weather. On clear days, enjoy uninterrupted views of the majestic Mt Cook, rising from the lake’s edge.
**Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park (2.5 hrs)** – Welcome to the heart of our journey! Aoraki/Mt Cook, New Zealand's highest peak, is named after the famous explorer James Cook. Once you arrive, you'll have the option to embark on one of two spectacular walks: the **Hooker Valley** or the **Tasman Glacier** walk. Alternatively, if you’d prefer an aerial view of the mountains, we can arrange a scenic helicopter ride for you and your family.
- **Hooker Valley Walk (2-2.5 hrs)** – One of New Zealand's most renowned day hikes, the Hooker Valley track takes you alongside ice-covered cliffs (you might even hear them creaking) to a glacial lake with stunning views of Mt Cook.
- **Tasman Glacier Walk (2-2.5 hrs)** – This track leads through the old terminal moraines of the Tasman Glacier, offering incredible views of the glacier, surrounding river, and lake .

At 2:30 PM, follow your guide’s instructions for the pick-up time as we head back towards Christchurch.
